Sant Gervasi de Cassoles, located right by the Tibidabo hill's foot was discovered by the Barcelonese bourgeoisie in the mid-19th century. Rich tennants as Mandri or Ganduxer gave their names to the new streets they created. In less than 50 years, it had become an elegant residential area with beautiful detached houses. This character is still much preserved in the area of Bonanova, while in others the houses have been replaced by apartment buildings.
In the area there are some architectural masterpieces of the turn of the 19th century, including some Gaudí works: Bellesguard House, at Bellesguard 16, and Teresianas School, at Ganduxer 85, both by Gaudí; Castanyer House, at Pg Sant Gervasi 19; Muley Afid House, at Pg. Bonanova 55; the old Casacuberta factory, by Josep Domènech i Estapà, remodelled to be the new Science Interactive Museum Cosmocaixa.
