The Arbutus is one of Killarney's original hotels. Best described as an elegant country house hotel in town centre. Operated by the Buckley family since 1926. Their unmistakable approach to hospitality is evident throughout. Highly recommended by many. Accommodation: Each room - whether Superior, Deluxe or Suite - has its own distinctive décor. Some rooms are finished in the original Celtic Deco style commissioned by Tim Buckley in the 1920s. Bar & Restaurant: Buckley's bar menu offers a casual, but wholesome meal. Alternatively, you can experience hospitality Norrie Buckley style. Her homecooking is well known among guests and locals - her rice pudding and her chicken paté being particular favourites. Norrie's cooking blends traditional Irish and International recipes, made with the freshest of local, seasonal produce. To the South West is Valentia Island, from where Captain Halpin of the Great Eastern laid the first trans-Atlantic telegraph cable. On the doorstep is Killarney National Park, with its native Irish Red deer and original Oak Forest.
