The River Island Hotel is a hotel which is not compromised by design or over styled, but a place where the overall effect is relaxed yet contemporary, unusual but homely. In Castleisland, you are in the heart of the Sliabh Luachra valley, a part of Ireland that is known and respected for it's love and contributions to traditional Irish music and dance.

Accommodation:
All 52 rooms reflect the warmth and hospitality of the Hotel and town of Castleisland, each guestroom at the River Island overlooks the bustling main street or surrounding area.

Dining:
While respecting old values of courtesy and discretion, we also pride ourselves on our friendly, relaxed approach. This is best experienced in our Sliabh Luachra restaurant.
The Island Suite is the larger of our two dining rooms. This will cater for up to 300 diners.

The Shanowen Bar is popular with guests and locals. An ideal venue for pre or post dinner drinks.

Area Information:
Castleisland is an ideal base for touring the Ring of Kerry, Dingle and Tralee.
A trip would not be complete without a trip to the Lakes of Killarney, Muckross House & Gardens and Torc Waterfall.

Location:
The River Island Hotel is located in Castleisland Town Centre. From Kerry Airport: Approximate driving time is 10 minutes and distance is 9 kilometres (5.4 miles). Upon exiting the airport, turn right at the junction and head for the Castleisland Town Centre.

From Cork:
Take the N22 South ring road to Killarney Centre.Upon entering Killarney, take the N21. Go past Farranfore and Farranfore airport. When you reach Castleisland, follow Main street. RiverIsland is on your right.

Local attractions:

  • Traditional Padraig O Keffee festival each October takes place here, when traditional musicians come from all over Ireland to honor the local fiddle player.
  • Annual Halloween festival in Knocknagoshel is a must for everyone and is especially popular with families. Everyone in the town, locals and visitors, gets involved and in costume.
