Kilkenny City
A really charming town, just 2 hours drive from Dublin, you can easily spend the day stroling around the small town centre and visiting the attractions. These include the 12th century Kilkenny Castle, the 13th century St. Canice's Cathedral and The Tholsel an Italian designed indoor marketplace from 18th century. Modern Kilkenny has numerous pubs and cafes, and a good choice of shops. Don't miss the famous Design Centre, showcasing the best of Irish design in clothes, ceramics, glass, wood and jewellery. There's also a marvellous cafe here, serving delicous bakes. Nicholas Mosse Pottery Mill is just 4 miles outside the town.
