Terrazas
(terraces, or outdoor bars)
Obviously a summertime specialty, are extremely popular in Madrid. Many year round tapas bars and beer parlors place tables and chairs out in front of the locals (on plazas and the sidewalks) when weather permits, and there are a numer of establishments that only open in summer. Of this later type, they most well known are found on the cities major Boulevards: Paseo de Recoletos, Paseo de la Castellana and Paseo del Pintor Rosales. Some are open day and night, while other are stricly nocturnal. |
