Corte Inglés is a Spanish classic
and since they bought their competitors
back in 1995, it's really the only complete
department store in the country. In most
shops they have also good supermarkets
and the Gourmet Club where you can find
delicatessen. Hipercor
is the big supermarket
chain that belongs to them and Opencor
is their branch of corner foodstores belonging
to the same group.
Their largest store in Madrid is close
to Nuevos Ministerios subway. Corte Inglés
has several buidings in Callao, Sol, Princesa
or Goya, to name a few.

stores specialising in books, music, video,
games and electronics. At FNAC
you can buy a tickets for conterts, newspapers
or magazines while you have a coffee or
a sanwich at their good value café.
On the second floor there is a room where
you can read the books (without buying
them) while listening to a selection of
music. Limited English collection. They
claim that if you find the same thing
cheaper somewhere else (not online), they
will refund you the difference (proof
provided).
