In Madrid there are many Commercial Centers, and in recent years, the Region of Madrid has seen a notable increase in centres that offer a wide range of both leisure and shopping opportunities.

There are numerous shopping malls in town, large and small. Their Spanish name is Centro Comercial, so name that before saying the name when asking for directions as many of the names of these mall is the same as the area where they are located.

Such modern centres are more than just somewhere to go shopping. They are chosen by families and groups of friends alike as the meeting places of today. At most of these centres, the shopping experience is complimented by additional leisure opportunities, such as cinemas, bowling, sports facilities, discos and restaurants, making them increasingly popular venues for fun and recreation among the local population.

The largest centres are located outside the capital, in such places as Alcobendas, Arroyomolinos, Getafe and Las Rozas.
Some of them specialise in retail fashion labels at discount prices, a major attraction for visitors to Madrid.

restaurants… Shopping Malls are becoming one of the options favoured by madrileños to pass the
time and enjoy themselves. This phenomenon means that every new Shopping Mall built in the
Community is, if possible, more spectacular than its predecessors, whether it is its architecture, its
size, its exclusive shops or restaurants and bars or the originality of the activities that can be done
in it, even skiing is possible.

This shopping complex is found within the representative building of Estación del Norte (Railway Station). The project involved rehabilitating and enlarging the old railway station so that within the same space both public transport and a multifunctional centre could be combined. The old historic building has been given an avant-garde and functional style where classical and art deco elements
combine. In terms of the building, the cantilivered roof dating from 1881 and the 3.20 metre diameter clock are outstanding. If to all that a wonderful situation right in the centre of the city - 100 metres away from the Royal Palace and La Almudena Cathedral – is added, we find one of the best
Shopping Malls in the region.
