Lugo is a city with Roman walls dated from the late 3rd century declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The walls formed part of a defensive complex which included a moat, the walls and the intervallum. Located on a hill on the banks of the river Miño, the city preserves major remains of its Roman past. Inside the walls, there are quiet pedestrian streets, wide squares and spacious gardens, where buildings such as the Cathedral, the Archiepiscopal Palace, and the City Hall stand out.
